Chief Architect, Data Center Automation

Responsible for the definition and architecture of new solutions and products in the datacenter automation space. Define a platform to integrate together new technologies with existing Remedy and Marimba products.

Support Merger and Acquisition efforts by defining technical evaluation criteria and ratings for candidate companies.

Define and drive the functional specification, and architecture of CMDB applications in the area of application discovery, compliance and audit.

Sun Microsystems Inc 1995 - 2006

N1 Chief Architect, N1 Grid Systems 

Defined and maintained the N1 strategy and product portfolio architecture. Developed Business Service Management (BSM) product vision, and implementation strategy. Presented N1 strategy, road map and products to executive level customers, industry analysts, or partners.

Contributed to Merger and Acquisition activities by identifying technology gaps, strategic opportunities, and evaluated target companies and their product portfolios.

Led the Business Service Management product team. Defined product concepts and architecture aligned with ITIL, implementing a Configuration Management Database (CMDB). Provided architecture and design guidance, UML modeling and Object Oriented Analysis and Design expertise to a distributed group of ten architects.

Chaired a Sun wide strategic working group (20 members, 5 sub-groups). Drove definition of common agent infrastructure, and Sun wide information model based on DMTF CIM.

Interim CTO, N1 Technology Office

Managed a distributed team of 7 very senior technologists. Redefined and prioritized the group's goals, improved focus and drove the delivery on key initiatives in the area of WS-Management, ITIL Configuration Management, information model standardization and N1 strategy.

Authored a chapter in the seminal document leading to the inception of N1, defining an architecture for utility based computing models, focusing on the telemetry and billing requirements.

Authored several architecture proposals for JMX based distributed management agents, OSS/J APIs, and accounting solutions. Contributed to OSS/J Service Quality Management API (JSR 210) specification.

Evaluated acquisition and partner opportunities in the Service Level Management, Accounting and Billing space.

Developed prototypes using technologies like JSP, Servlets, XML/XSLT, ICAL (RFC 2445)

Project Lead, Network Resource Management, Solaris Internet Engineering

Led the Solaris 10 implementation of RFC2475 - An Architecture for Differentiated Service. Authored architecture and functional specifications. Managed all aspects of release life cycle. Developed a configuration API in Java.

Led Solaris Bandwidth Manager releases. Authored architecture and functional specifications. Managed all aspects of release life cycle. Implemented policy management modules in Java, above JMX. Contributed to several Industry Standards: DEN, RFC 3060 and RFC 3703.

Led the development of a Solaris based implementation of RFC2205 –  Resource Reservation protocol (RSVP).

Led X.500 team and initiated transition to native LDAP servers. Prototyped LDAP implementation and convinced management to fund project. Developed extensions to Sun's X.400 product in C, on Solaris.

Developed an OSI Virtual Terminal implementation in C on AIX. Developed and maintained extensions to an X.400 message store, in C on Unix.

Developed a OSI MAP/TOP cell controller – integrated with the manufacturing equipments and tested the software on site.
